Dr. Sanjay K Bhadada
President
Dear Friends,
It is a matter of privilege for me to be elected as the President of the vibrant society of national and international importance, the Endocrine Society of India. Ever since its inception, the society has evolved abundantly, been involved in advancing Indian endocrinology and has made tremendous progress in various fields, be it education, research, collaboration or public awareness. Today, we are a 1000-member organisation and intend to add more to this ever growing organisation.
As we move forward, there rests a huge responsibility on the shoulders of the working team, and my vision for the future encompasses not only carrying forward the programmes of the society which have garnered success in the past, but also to initiate some new ones bearing in mind the interests of the members. We wish to encourage more national and international interaction, especially in terms of clinical and translational research in endocrinology. We would also like to encourage and include active participation of the basic scientists in various aspects of endocrinology. These shall be part of our endeavour to foster interdisciplinary speciality programs and facilitate multi-centre collaborative research under the aegis of the Endocrine Society of India.
Another aspect that we wish to emphasise is the limited availability of Indian literature on various endocrine disorders, and provide impetus to generate nation-wide evidence on endocrine pathologies. This will be one of our strengths in the global arena and influence our clinical practice. The Society shall also plan to develop centres of excellence across the country under the banner of the Society in various types of endocrinological disorders.
The Indian Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism (IJEM) Case reports is an online, national endocrinology journal of case reports, the first edition of which shall be launched in the Annual Conference, ESICON 2022 and continued on a quarterly basis. The Year Book of Endocrinology, an expert summary of all the impactful research papers published in the previous year from across the globe and from India, is due and we shall work to release it and strive to do it on an annual basis.
We also plan to encourage more participation of young, dynamic and early career endocrinologists in the activities of the society and provide a platform for exchange of ideas and with experienced and veteran endocrinologists. The Society website has been revamped with all the information of the ongoing and upcoming activities, thanks to the continuous efforts of the team. The virtual presence of the society is spread across various platforms, including the regular patient awareness videos on Facebook, and videos of the programs conducted by ESI on the youtube channel of the ESI. The official website of the ESI is also being regularly updated to include details of grants, research programmes, funding opportunities, completed dissertations, awards and awardees. I would urge all members to go through the website regularly.
I congratulate the members of the ESI and my team for their untiring efforts. It strengthens the core beliefs and the pillars on which our society rests. I wish the very best to the team for all their future endeavours.
