Message From President
Dr. Rakesh Sahay
From the Desk of President of Endocrine Society of India
It is a great honour for me to be installed as the President of this prestigious society. I thank all the members of the society for electing me to this position. In the last 50 plus years there has been a lot of progress done by the society. Our membership has grown and today we are a more than 1000 member strong organization.
During the Pandemic, my predecessors, Prof. Sanjay Kalra and Prof. Ganapathi Bantwal have initiated several new educational initiatives which have been carried out on the online platform. These programs have had very active participation from all the members across the country. Many of these programs have had a global outreach and have enhanced the global image of Endocrine Society of India. In the current year also we intend to continue these programs with the active participation from all our members. We also intend to have several interdisciplinary and cross- speciality programs.
The number of research grants for the DM Endocrinology residents from different institutions across the country has been increased to 30 per year and we also plan to initiate multi-centre collaborative research under the aegis of the Endocrine Society of India.
We plan to publish a Year Book of Endocrinology which will summarize all the impacful research papers published in the previous year from across the globe and from India, with a critical summary by an expert on its influence on our clinical practice. This will be edited by our immediate past President Prof. Ganapathi Bantwal. A revised Third Edition of the Textbook of Endocrinology from the Endocrine Society of India is overdue and this is under process and will be released at the Annual conference of the Endocrine Society of India with Prof. Sanjay Kalra will spearhead this as Editor-in-chief with contributions from eminent faculty in Endocrinology from across the country.

It gives me immense pleasure and satisfaction unveiling the 2nd newsletter of Endocrine Society of India. The editorial team has excellently summed up the myriad activities, initiatives and responsibilities undertaken by the Society in the past year. I congratulate the members of ESI for their zeal and hardwork. The awards and accolades received by them makes me proud. It strengthens the core belief of ESI, that together we can make a positive impact.
I wish the very best to the editorial team for their effort and for all their future endeavours.
